DBDMH carries more active bromine per
unit weight. It is generally more reactive, cheaper and
has longer shelf life than the other brominating agents,
such as N-Bromoacetamide and N-Bromosuccinimide. It can
be stored almost indefinitely under dry conditions. It
is the most widely used brominating agents in the chemical
and pharmaceutical industries. It is particularly used
in allylic and benzylic brominations, bromination of active
aromatic rings, addition of bromine or HoBr(Hydrobromination)
to double bonds and selective oxidation of secondary alcohols.
Also be used as disinfectant or sanitizing agent. |
